REMOTE
VIEWING is a term coined by Harold Puthoff and Russell Targ to
describe a form of psychic functioning historically known as clairvoyance.1
Dr. Puthoff and Mr. Targ, both formerly with Stanford Research
Institute (SRI) International, have researched this phenomenon
since the early 1970s, and their results are published in several
books.2 Their research was concentrated on training
selected individuals to "see" or "view" a
scene or event that was occurring at a distant location. In addition,
the ability to "view" the scene at different times --
past, present and future -- was established.(READ

There
is no question but that today's "hard" science has progressed
to the point where it can describe our everyday reality very well.
Much progress is now being made in the human, or "soft,"
sciences as well, and many models have been formulated in an attempt
to expand the currently accepted understanding of physics, a so-called
hard science, to include consciousness of the human mind.
The particular interest of the author for the past 22 years* has
been trying to understand and explain those paranormal phenomena
that have been labeled remote viewing, telepathy, mind reading,
psychometry, psychokinesis, and psychic healing.
When a literature review and experiments suggested that there
might well be something to paranormal (sometimes referred to as
"psychic)" phenomena, efforts were turned toward improving
the reliability of experiments in these areas as well as applying
and understanding these phenomena.(READ

A
dowser is a devise that displays large movements which result
from extremely small movements in the hand, arm, and body of the
person holding it. There are many good books on dowsing (e.g.
References 1 through 3). There are many types of dowsers. It is
the authors' opinion that our minds are capable of accessing a
universal information system (called the "STU" in Reference
4) to obtain any desired knowledge. By being specific about the
desired information, by allowing your own analytical and conscious
mind to get out of the way, and by believing it is going to work,
the mind will channel the information back into your brain (i.e.
the brain acts as the tuner/receiver). The information will then
be processed by the brain which will activate the appropriate
muscles via the autonomic nervous system to display the information
(e.g. an answer to a question) by the movement of a dowser.(READ

What
if the ability to do remote viewing, PK, and other high performance
mental techniques could be induced with high-tech means? There
is some evidence that there is a mental access window (MAW) when
the predominat frequency of an individual's electroencephalogram
(EEG) is 7.81 to 7.83 Hz. This is the same frequency range in
which slight oscillations in the earth's magnetic field occur,
known as "Schumann Resonance". (Interestingly, this
frequency also corresponds to REM sleep and hypnogognic imagery.)
Houck first learned of the ideas from Dr. Bob Beck when he purchased
a simple EEG biofeedback unit from Beck. The unit provides auditory
feedback of brain activity to the user. Beck suggested that they
make a recording of an input signal of exactly 7.81 Hz. Houck
listened to the EEG unit attached to his head in one ear while
simultaneously listening to the 7.81 Hz (using frequency modulation,
the EEG signal is combined with a 2000 Hz tone so it can be heard)
recording in the other ear.(READ MORE)
PK
Parties are events, somewhat unusual events, where people gather
together to learn how to perform PK. PK stands for psychokinesis,
or mind over matter! PK Parties work the best when people have
fun and generate a lot of emotion, much like a party. Thus, I
named them PK Parties.(READ MORE)
The
procedure used at my PK Parties during which over 85 percent of
the attendees have learned how to bend metal and plastic is presented
below. This bending occurs with a process called "warm forming,"
which has historically been called bending with psychokinesis
(PK).(READ MORE)
The
following seven steps seem to be common to all types of psychic
healing. Not every psychic healer is observed or is aware of doing
all seven steps as some of the steps may be implied for that individual.

In
this paper, I am going to describe what "remote viewing"
is, how to conduct experiments, how to think about it, and briefly
how to do it.
In
the mid-1970's, I read an articlel on remote viewing
written by Harold Puthoff and Russell Targ in the IEEE Spectrum,
an engineering publication. What they said was that a person could
be sitting in a room in one part of the earth and send their mind
out and perceive information about some place, or site, in the
next block, or in another country; this is what we call a remote
site. They can draw pictures and accurately describe these sites.
This seemed absolutely incredible to me and did not fit at all
with science as it had been taught to me! Like most, I guess I
did not really believe that this was possible because I had had
no personal experience with such things. However, Puthoff and
Targ were credible scientists and worked at Stanford Research
Institute in Menlo Park, California.(READ

The
basic protocol for conducting remote-viewing experiments was established
in the early 1970s by Dr. Harold Puthoff of Stanford Research
Institute (SRI) International, and Russell Targ of Delphi Associates
(Reference 1). In the early 1980s, Dr. Robert G. Jahn and Brenda
J. Dunne of Princeton University developed a computerized judging
procedure which simplified remote-viewing experiments and seemed
to produce more statistically significant results (Reference 2).
In 1984, Lt. Aaron Curtis of the Air Force converted the Princeton
computer's judging program to one that could be used with the
Apple personal computer, making this procedure readily available
to the general public.(READ

Doing
research on paranormal phenomena has been my avocation for the
last 17 years. I "normally" work as a systems engineer
at a large aerospace company in southern California. The term
"paranormal phenomena" covers a much broader area than
just remote viewing and psychokinesis. The term "remote viewing"
was coined by Hal Puthoff and Russell Targ in the early 1970's
when they were working at Stanford Research Institute (SRI) International
in Menlo Park, California. Their research produced a number of
important papers and books (e.g., References 1, 2, and 3). They
were developing techniques for gathering information at a distance
using the brain/minds of individuals. In metaphysics, this is
known as clairvoyance. They named this phenomenon remote viewing
as an attempt to make it sound more scientific as well as to have
the term be descriptive of what was happening (people "seeing"
at a distance). Other laboratories now use the term "remote
perception" because all sensory data may be accessed at a
distance, not just vision (Reference 4).(READ

During 1981, I conducted 12 "PK Parties" in which approximately
85% of the attendees experienced metal-bending with apparent ease.
In general, the participants described a short period, typically
5 to 20 seconds, in which the metal felt warm and was extremely
pliable. After this period the metal would again become impossible
to bend, as in its normal state. We have named this phenomenon
"warm-forming" and have attempted to compile data that
helps explain what occurs inside the metal. During the PK Party
held April 20, 1981, a steel rod of 0.63 cm diameter appeared
to change dramatically in surface color when "warm-formed"
by Tim. This rod was submitted to a metallurgical laboratory for
analysis. The results are contained in this report. (READ

This paper was presented at the Science of Whole Person Healing
Conference on March 28, 2003. The purpose was to show that humans
do have interaction with and effects on matter. This report captures
the results of 22 years of research with experiments in psychokinesis
(PK). The author began the PK Party workshops as an experiment
to test his hypothesis that significant paranormal effects would
be produced if a large peak emotional event could be orchestrated.
It worked so well in the first PK Party (January 1981) that he
has continued to conduct theses workshops. There have been 361
PK Parties (17,000 attendees) conducted by the author, and many
more by others all over the world. Often controlled experiments
have been conducted within the PK Party environment, some that
are reported in this paper.(READ

Two
bent transparent plastic spoons, one undeformed "control"
spoon, two bent 3/8-inch (9.5m) diameter aluminum rods and a fractured
plastic spoon and a fork were submitted to the Metallurgical Laboratory
for examination. It was reported that one of the aluminum rods,
both bent spoons and the broken fork were the result of an undisclosed
warm-forming process while the broken spoon and one of the aluminum
rods were manually broken or bent at ambient temperature. This report
documents the test results and observations made on the plastic
as well as the metal parts.(READ
